This Privacy Policy explains how Virtual Blow (“Virtual Blow,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Virtual Blow mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Service”). Virtual Blow is the data controller for information processed under this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and profile information: name or display name, email address received from Apple or Google sign-in, authentication provider identifier, friend code, profile photo or avatar, time zone, and account settings.
- Profile and calculation information: birth date, height, weight, sex selected for BAC calculations, body type, and warning threshold. We use these details to provide personalized alcohol estimates and safety reminders.
- Photos and activity: drink photos, selfies you choose to capture, drink history, timestamps, beverage details, estimated volume, alcohol content, calories, estimated BAC, and place information you choose to add.
- Social content: friends or connections, audience choices, likes, comments, reactions, and other content you choose to share.
- Communications: your name, email address, message, and request type when you contact support or submit a privacy request.
Information collected automatically
We may collect app and device information such as installation and application identifiers, device platform, app version, build number, language, time zone, push-notification token and permission status, notification preferences, feature interactions, performance data, and diagnostics. We do not request access to your device contacts or precise GPS location as part of the Service’s current functionality.
2. How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts; provide drink recognition and alcohol-related estimates; store and display your history; enable friends, stories, comments, reactions, and notifications; personalize reminders and statistics; secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service; respond to support and privacy requests; enforce our rules; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Photos and AI processing
When you ask Virtual Blow to recognize a drink, the drink photo is sent to OpenAI for analysis. The paired selfie is not sent to OpenAI for drink recognition. Our recognition request is configured not to store the API response for model-training purposes. Photos and generated results may remain in your Virtual Blow account as part of your history until they are deleted under this policy.
4. When we share information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service, at your direction, or when required by law:
- Other users: content and profile details are visible according to the audience and social settings you choose. A “global” post may be visible beyond your accepted connections.
- Service providers: Apple and Google for sign-in; DigitalOcean for application hosting; Supabase for database and private media storage; OpenAI for drink-photo recognition; Google Firebase for app analytics and diagnostics; and Expo and device platform services for push notifications.
- Safety and legal reasons: where reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate misuse, enforce terms, or comply with a valid legal request.
- Business changes: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share personal information for third-party targeted advertising.
5. Retention and deletion
We retain account information and user content while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Operational logs, security records, support correspondence, and backups may be kept for a reasonable period when needed for security, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. When an account-deletion request is completed, we delete or de-identify personal information associated with the account unless retention is required by law or necessary for a legitimate safety, security, or legal purpose. Content already removed from the live Service may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until those backups are rotated.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update certain profile, audience, and notification settings in the app and manage camera, photo-library, and notification permissions through your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
Visit Privacy Choices to submit a request. We may need to verify your identity before completing an account-related request. Removing the app from your device does not delete your account.
7. Security and international processing
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and private media storage. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Our providers may process information in countries other than your own; where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
8. Adults only
Virtual Blow is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided information, contact us so we can review and delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. We will provide additional notice when required.
